A Deathless Potential In Remembrance By You

Nirbhai (nep) Singh Sidhu’s A Deathless Potential In Remembrance By You relies on the concept of Jivan Mukti, which is a state of being spiritually liberated while still alive. Nirbhai developed this sculpture as a physical manifestation of this concept–which, for the artist, is accessed through the acts of Simran (a practice of stillness and deep listening), Seva (selfless service), and Sangat (community).

The architectural structure you see here was built by earth from Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, a gurdwara dedicated to Safar-e-Shahadat, or the “journey of martyrdom”. Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib embraces the story of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s family standing for their faith and beliefs. The permanent placement of these earthen materials at the Scarborough Gurdwara creates a dialogue and connection to histories revered within Sikh communities. Within Sikh teachings, weapons are symbolic, and the metal sculptures that adorn the surface of this sculpture are internal shastars, representative of inner qualities that a Sikh warrior must possess or cultivate in order to embody the act of awakening. Plants and flowers within this garden acknowledge the love of Mata Gujri, the mother of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and the grace and care shown by matriarchs and women within families. The presence of water is activated as Amrit, the ambrosial nectar of life for the awakened mind.

ਨਿਰਭੈ (ਨੈੱਪ) ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਦਾ ਕਲਾ-ਕਾਰਜ “ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ, ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ”, ਜੀਵਨ-ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਕਲਪ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਜੀਅ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹੈ। ਨਿਰਭੈ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਕਲਾ-ਕ੍ਰਿਤ(ਸਕਲਪਚਰ) ਨੂੰ ਇਸੇ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਭੌਤਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਵਜੋਂ ਘੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਲਾਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਿਮਰਨ (ਠਹਿਰਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਨ ਦਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ), ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਇਹ ਇਮਾਰਤੀ ਕਲਾ-ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿਗੜ੍ਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੋ ‘ਸਫ਼ਰ-ਏ-ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ’ (ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ) ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿਗੜ੍ਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਦਕ, ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ‘ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਲਾਵੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਕਾਰਬ੍ਰੋ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਇਸ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਪੱਕੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਹੋਣਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰਯੋਗ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਿੱਖ ਫ਼ਲਸਫ਼ੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਾਤਮਕ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਕੇਤਕ ਹਨ; ਇਸ ਕਲਾ-ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਸਤ੍ਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਦੇ ਧਾਤੂ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਤ ਦਰਅਸਲ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਯੋਧੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਚੇਤਨਤਾ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੋਣੇ ਜਾਂ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਬਗੀਚੇ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ, ਮਾਤਾ ਗੁਜਰੀ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਪਿਆਰ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ, ਰਹਿਮਤ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇੱਥੇ ਜਲ(ਪਾਣੀ) ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਅਤੇ ਚੇਤਨ ਮਨ ਲਈ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਸਰੋਤ ਹੈ।
