Parallel Projects
We are excited to announce the launch of TBA Parallel Projects, a new initiative supporting the visibility of local exhibitions featuring work by artists participating in Things Fall Apart, the 2026 Biennial. Taking place alongside the Biennial, this new initiative aims to amplify the vibrant artistic activity happening across the city during the Biennial period and offer multiple entry points into TBA artists’ work outside their Biennial projects, encouraging audiences to discover and engage with local exhibitions.

Exhibition Description:
Drawing upon the writings of the Sikh Gurus, which offer practical guidance for understanding the mind and navigating these conditions, Journey of the Mind explores how these teachings approach spirituality as a lived practice that addresses fear, ego, distraction and suffering while opening possibilities for clarity, resilience and compassion. Bringing together contemporary figurative and abstract artworks by artists from diverse cultural backgrounds alongside film, the exhibition explores these ideas through visual experience.

RBC is proud to support the Toronto Biennial of Art’s investment in the development of contemporary Canadian artists. We are also pleased to present, in the RBC Community Gallery, works from the RBC Art Collection by artists whose work will be featured in the 2026 Biennial. Works by Brendan Fernandes, Dawit L. Petros, Kent Monkman, and Skawennati are presented here, while their work will also be showcased alongside the other artists in this city-wide exhibition, bringing leading contemporary artists to audiences across the GTA.

Exhibition Description:
Capsules Artist Resources presents the solo exhibition This Song Is Dedicated to Nature’s God by artist Nirbhai (Nep) Singh Sidhu at their pilot space gallery in Toronto, seeking to facilitate conversation between investigative studies on paper used for various projects, a large sculptural installation, and the artists’ monument work created for the biennial, A Deathless Potential in Remembrance By You, situated at the Gurusikh Sabha Canada in Scarborough. Programming includes simran with Without Shape Without Form on October 3rd, a skillbuilding workshop, and more, throughout TBA’s duration. A publication accompanies the exhibition, with writing by Ishmael Butler.

A light and sound installation that explores notions of safe space, queer resistance and collective gathering through dance within both global and Toronto-specific public spheres. This project was previously presented at Nuit Blanche 2018, as a part of the “The things they carried” exhibition curated by Tairone Bastien.

Exhibition Description:
As the Earth rotates on its axis, the sun delivers periods of lightness and darkness to the planet, fueling numerous cycles that unfold within daily life and across deep geological time. Drawing on the transition from day to night as a poetic frame, Nightfall is an invitation to reflect on the relationship between these terrestrial cycles and the material, emotional, and social conditions of our lives. It’s also an expression of trust in the role of rest alongside action and of hope when we embrace the unknown.
