About Gallery TPW

A longstanding TBA partner, Gallery TPW is a non-profit artist-run centre dedicated to exhibiting experimental artistic and curatorial practices. Formed in 1977 and originally known as the Toronto Photographers Workshop, Gallery TPW currently extends its activities beyond the initial lens-based media focus to durational research, critical thinking, dialogue, and community engagement. As part of Toronto’s core artist-run centres emerging in the 1960s and 1970s, it has played a vital role in the expansion of artist spaces beyond traditional galleries, museums, and art institutions, contributing to a diverse and nuanced contemporary art ecosystem.
