Jaz ‘Fairy J’ Simone (lives in Toronto, Canada) is a Barbadian-Canadian multi-hyphenate artist. She is a performance artist, choreographer, movement director, dancer, singer/song writer, outside eye/creative mentor, group facilitator, and handmade skincare small business owner. For the past six years she has been exploring soulful and South African house as a vocalist, song-writer and dancer. Over the past two years, Jaz took her drumming and percussion playing to a new level with her mentor Santosh Naidu and has introduced more percussive play into her creative practice through explorations of sonic mediations and sound baths with her loop pedal. As a choreographer she has created over 20 original dance works presented in Toronto, Montreal, North Bay, Brooklyn NY, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Berlin, Birmingham, and Turkey. Choreographic commissions include: Obsidian Theatre, Cahoots Theatre, Toronto Dance Theatre, Soulpepper Theatre, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre and Cawthra Park Secondary School to name a few.
