Megumi Kokuba was born on the southernmost island of Japan, Okinawa. She began her ballet training at the age of two, nurturing a lifelong passion for dance. After graduating from college in Okinawa, Megumi discovered contemporary dance, which quickly became her primary focus. She moved to Toronto to deepen her training and joined the Toronto Dance Theatre as a TD Dance Intern. Since then, she has had many inspiring opportunities to create and perform in Toronto. As a dance artist, Megumi is committed to environmental advocacy, centering her practice on active listening, holding space, and promoting thoughtful communication.
